Bible Study - Chapter 6: The Epistle of Paul to the Romans

Two topics are handled in this chapter. Dead to sin & Alive to God: (v1-14); & From slaves of sin to slaves of God: (v15-23). The following are the questions for discussion from this chapter.

• Dead to sin & Alive to God (v1-14)
• Chapter 5:20 says: "Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more"! Is is a licence to sin so that grace may abound?
• Why should a believer no longer live in sin ?
• How are we dead to sin?
• Why shouldn't we no longer slaves of sin ?
• Why do we believe that we shall live with Christ ?
• Why does death do not have dominion over Christ ?
• What is the significance of death & resurrection of Jesus ?
• Why shouldn't we let sin reign in our mortal bodies ?
• What is our task as believers ?
• Why can't sin have dominion over us ?
• From slaves of sin to slaves of God (v15-23)
• V14 says we're not under the law. Does this mean that we shall sin ? why?
• What is the consequence of being slave to a) Sin b) obedience to God?
• How are we set free from sin ? / The mechanism / what is necessary ?
• What does Paul exhort because of our weakness of flesh ?
• What is the result of presenting our bodies as slaves to rigtheousness?
• What are the 3 steps mentioned here which leads to eternal life?
